RE: Checklist For Granite Installation? (Follow-Up #3)

I would add to run your hands around the entire laminated edge of yor counters to make sure they are smooth. Mine needed some light sanding in a few areas. Also, if there is a little chip/crack or something they need to fill, there are many different colors they can use or even clear--so if you don't like it, ask them to try another. We had a small chip at the seam, the color they used was a pretty good match, still that color did not exist anywhere else in my colorful granite. When they came out next, they tried some different colors, finally they used clear and now it's invisable.

Make sure you have a pretty good idea of your faucet layout--where you want the holes drilled for all the fixtures and do a test mock up to make sure you have accounted for sufficient clearances between each fixture.

More than all the above, though, is to be present for both the templating as well as having the templates placed on your slabs at the fabricator's.

I agree it is the most exciting and most stressful.

Good luck!
