RE: If you had 3 seedling to keep from this summer.... (Follow-Up #3)

Wow! You have some beauties there. Of course, we are only looking at the blooms, but there are many there that look as good as what hybridizers are introducing for '09. Congratulations.

I had about 70 seedlings bloom for the first time this past summer. Here are several of my favorites.

From those I couldn't pick my top 3, so here are my top 4.

Life is good.

I've posted several closeup photos of some of my daylilies...I thought some might enjoy seeing the "big picture". I'm a potluck, hodgepodge, cram'em in gardener! If you look close enough you might even see my pipecleaner tagging system!

RE: Increase fan growth rate? (Follow-Up #2)

Hi There

I don't grow the daylily you mentioned, but you might want to refer to this link regarding the use of alphalfa. I've read other places too that it has a very positive effect on daylilies. Hope this helps!

Here is a link that might be useful: Daylily Growing Tips

WOW.....seeing so many of these toothy ones sure is a treat. Funny thing is that I have a number of the ones posted here and MANY never bloomed this year. I have Mort Morss, Paula Nettles, Bass Gibson, and FL Ragamuffin none of which bloomed. Here are a few of mine that did bloom.

Favorite Toothy Daylilies

posted by: shive on 10.11.2008 at 03:11 pm in Daylily Forum

Those of you who grow toothy cultivars, which were your favorite ones this season?

These are my Top 10 toothy daylilies.

1. MOZAMBIQUE NIGHTS - This one was one of my overall best performers and rebloomers.

2. ROARING RAPIDS - I love that lavender purple color with the white teeth.

3. ROBES FOR THE QUEEN - Lots of teeth on petals and sepals this year.

4. HARVEST MOTH - This was also one of my best performers and rebloomers.

5. GILDED KNIGHT - a proven performer year after year. It will be reblooming next week.

6. SHARK BITE

7. RAPTOR RAP

8. CROCODILE SMILE

9. CHARLIE

10. DEVONSHIRE DESIGN

MORT MORSS fails to make the Top 10 list again because of perpetual splotchy sepals. The petals and the teeth are very nice though. This was the best bloom of the season. The others were very, very splotchy.

Debra
