RE: Establishing a wildflower mix into a mini-meadow? (Follow-Up #2)

posted by: ridingthe8_9line on 05.07.2009 at 07:38 am in Meadows & Prairies Forum

We have had such great results from wild flower box mixes entire quarter acres of our land are bursting to the brim with the most gorgeous pot marigolds, lavateras, wild snaps ans cosmos. Don't sow to deep though and overwatering after established can make them rangy. Good Luck!

NOTES:

Today, 4 days after posting this reply....we had a real wonderment of nature in our bog and wildflower meadow area. It was hot and clear when we saw four hawks circling above. I ran to get the binoculars and was lucky enough to see not just them but a hummingbird on one of our wild Lavatera, a butterfly and two enormous red dragonflies dancing in a mating ritual and the female of the pair spelunking and dipping into the pond to lay her eggs for another year's wonders to come!
