Semi-modern bathroom photo update...

posted by: staceyneil on 01.18.2010 at 09:46 am in Bathrooms Forum

This weekend we set out to install our shower glass. It was nerve-wracking dealing with the big, heavy, expensive glass slabs! We got the fixed panel in place, and then realized that the glass manufacturer had sent the wrong hinges for the door :( So we're doorless for now...

We also installed the vanity, sinks, and plumbing. We had the basic case built for us, and we made the countertop ourselves. The legs are from Ikea. The sinks are from eBay, knock-offs of expensive Ronbow sinks. The faucets are Kohler Purist. We plumbed all the plumbing (supply and traps) in a 4" space along the wall, so there only needs to be a shallow U-shaped cut-out in the back of the drawer to accomodate the shallow drain pipe.)

The drawer pulls are not installed yet (they'll be George-Nelson-like slim edge pulls on the top edge, about 1.5" wide.) and the mirror is not up yet. DH is making the mahogany frame for that this week. I also need to find a good fabric for the window, and install the door.

Looking from the master bedroom through the hall with the two small walk-in closets on either side:

The tub and niche (faucets areJado IQ) and curious kitten (she loves the heated floor!)

Vanity, shower (minus door) and Toto Aquia toilet

Finally! Finished bath pictures - modern urban spa

posted by: homey_bird on 07.05.2009 at 01:06 am in Bathrooms Forum

Hello all,

Many many thanks for the inspiration, hand holding and all other help in designing my bathroom. My bathroom has been done for about 3 weeks now (the only missing pieces are a matching trash can and soap dispenser -- we are using the old ones).

Without all the expertise on this forum I could not have done this, and I could not have enjoyed it as much as I did.

Some general details:

Bath dimensions: 5' x7.5' approximately (thus "urban")
Theme: Modern Spa

Here is a link that might be useful: Modern Spa

Statuary Crystal White marble tiles

posted by: bostonhome on 02.07.2010 at 12:10 am in Bathrooms Forum

I just received a sample basketweave floor mosaic that was listed as Statuary Crystal White. It is mostly white, but has shiny crystal-like specks. I went to a store and saw another sample called Statuary Marble which is also mostly white but has very light gray veining. Are these two supposed to be the same thing or two different types of marble? I prefer the version with slight gray veining. However, I'm wondering if the crystal white version is a fake and has quartz or another substitute.

Entire wall of tall cabinets w/perpendicular counter?

posted by: jsweenc on 01.31.2010 at 10:29 pm in Kitchens Forum

Does anyone have a wall of tall cabinets (no counters) that ends with a counter coming out perpendicular to it, like this one from Crown Point?

Photobucket
Ignore the island

If so,
- what is the nearest major element on the counter run (e.g., cooktop, sink)
- how far away is that element to the corner
- how have you handled the corner itself (e.g., lower lazy susan, upper shelves)

Pictures would be most appreciated.
