I sure would be interested in some seeds if you get any.

Here is a link that might be useful: Yellow flymallow

What kind of grass/how should I do it?

posted by: isocene on 04.24.2009 at 12:52 pm in Texas Gardening Forum

I just bought my first house and I have a lawn full of dirt! My neighbors say that once upon a time there was beautiful grass throughout my yard. There is a lot of shade in the front and back.

I would like to put some grass down but I'm not sure which to use and how to go about doing it. I've been told St Augustine would be good? I don't want to spent a ton of money. I see on craigslist a pallet of St Augustine goes for $110.

What kind of grass should I get? Is it as simple as throwing it down or do I need to till?

When it rains the ground is muddy if that helps know more about the soil. I'm in Round Rock Texas.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Bird houses, store bought or built yourself. What do you prefer?

I always try and build my own and I've had good luck with them. I basically build three types as seen in the pics.

I've had all kinds of birds nest in them and even a black snake. That scared the heebie jeebies out of me when I opened the door! LOL If you build your own I'd love for you to share pics if you care to. :)
