Question re: banquette seating under windowsill

posted by: phrazina on 09.19.2012 at 06:12 pm in Kitchens Forum

Hello all,

I've been reading through all the real posts on banquette seating and haven't seen the answer to this question, but if it has already been answered, please feel free to point me in the right direction!

I am looking to put in built in banquettes in an L shape under two windows. The height of the windowsill is 23" off the floor. I am trying to decide how to deal with back support and comfort due to the window sill sticking out a bit. I am tempted to just put pillows that can be moved so that the window isn't blocked by something permanent. Would that provide enough comfort against a window sill? Or would you put a small backrest that would permanently block a portion of the window? or is there another solution I haven't thought of?

Any thoughts or experiences with this would be so greatly appreciated! Thanks to everyone!

Final Vote.. I've Narrowed Down Banquette Fabrics

posted by: 2LittleFishies on 04.08.2013 at 02:40 pm in Kitchens Forum

Our yellow kitchen is ALMOST finished and we are now choosing fabric for the banquette cushions. They are all Sunbrella fabrics as this area will be used very often.

We may do leather or a leather type fabric for the seat cushion for ease of "sliding" in and out and ease of wiping down. SO, these fabrics are most likely just for the back cushions.

Here's a few photos of our kitchen

What's the best idea you've gotten from GW?

I have learned so much in the past couple of months and have created a list a mile long of things recommended here that I never knew existed! (hello, airswitch!)

What has GW inspired you to have that you never even knew you wanted?

Help! Who has led lights in glass cabinet with wood shelves

posted by: cathy725 on 03.02.2013 at 09:06 am in Kitchens Forum

Please help! I know I saw a picture on here with a glass front cabinet with wooden shelves and there was led lighting running vertically down both sides of the cabinet to light up the cabinet.

I want to do this in my cabinet. I thought I bookmarked the thread but now I can't find it.

If it's your kitchen or you know what I'm talking about could you please provide the link? Thanks!
