RE: need help! poetry and prose (Follow-Up #17)

Oh nice I feel for ya...we are not a huggy bunch on my side of the family. Now I have no problem hugging my son or my hubby but outside of that I kinda seem to have a wall around me...

Hope you find the saying you want. I gotta tell you. I always buy the funny cards cause I CANNOT stand to buy a sappy card that DOESNT say what I feel...if I felt it I would buy it but if its a lie I cant do it...man it makes it hard sometimes doesnt it!!!! Oh but I can cry over a freakin commercial!!!!!

I made this gift for you
from my heart and my hands
its my way to say the things
that only my heart understands
Often I dont share what I hold so close and dear
so I hope this helps you see my love
over distances and through the years

Donna

Table and Coffee Set Finished and in Place

posted by: slowmedown on 01.25.2007 at 08:01 pm in Stained Glass & Mosaics Forum

Too tired to read the board tonight, especially when the forum is at its slowest YET! Had a long, fruitful day, and of course, when I got home I went straight to the workshop to grout the coffee set. W/catch up tomorrow morn. There are two photos - just use the arrorw at top left to go to the second one.

RE: WIP - Heart Shelf - Almost Finished (Follow-Up #36)

Well, I don't know how to thank y'all for your wonderful, generous, flattering comments. I truly and sincerely appreciate every word. Y'all make me want to work faster. Last five photos in the album - it's almost finished. Still some areas that need cleaning up, another coat of paint on the wood underneath and a polyurethene coat and I can hang it tomorrow. It's not nearly as heavy as I predicted, so can do it. Sorry to say the tesserae didn't cover as much of the bad carpentry as I had hoped either, but again, my stuff is pretty rustic. I LOVE it! What's that you say - not appropriate for a dining room. The HAY you say - nothing in my house is appropriate for where it it - like an old tool box for an end table to name one. Anyway, it's going in the d.r. cuz I'm a girly girl.

WIP - Heart Shelf

posted by: slowmedown on 01.15.2007 at 12:09 pm in Stained Glass & Mosaics Forum

Made this shelf day b/f yesterday, and have begun glueing on the tesserae. (Yeah, I do like the heart motif.) I started out w/different measurements than what it came out to be: 37" long, 10 1/2" high and 9 1/4" deep. It's to go on the last wall to be decorated in my d.r., flanked w/tall wroght iron candle sconces from HobLob. Since I don't know where I'm going w/this yet, thought I'd show/tell. Thinking I might outline each piece in white before moving on. W/use dark green grout on this one so I want high contrast. Any suggestions w/be welcome on design, my hardest decisions.
