RE: Trash can cabinet vs extra column of drawers (Follow-Up #10)

Benjayva I was faced with the same decision as you in my last kitchen. I just could not justify a whole base cabinet for trash. So, similar to eks, we turned our sink base cabinet into two pullouts. Because this was the plan, DH was able to install the sink, full size garbage disposal and all the pipes so that they did not interfere. I can get 2 full sized, tall kitchen trash cans one in each pullout and there is still room for the normal under sink stuff: gloves, sponges, dish detergent, dishwasher detergent, comet, soft scrub, etc.

For me, this was the best setup. My new kitchen is larger, but IMO this setup is the perfect solution for trash, so this is what I will do again.

This is not mine, but it is close enough. This (and mine) are IKEA, but I would think this would be possible (if not as easy) with any cabinet.

NOTES:

Maybe a way to forgo the trash pullout & give more storage?
