As long as they leave them(and not hide in the base of the leaves)during the day,put coarse sand, ground eggshells, stuff that is "sharp" around the plants. The slugs won't cross it.

The slimey little buggars will nestle down in the middle of clumps to hide plus they delight in laying their eggs in and around the base of clumps. To kill the slugs use a 1 part ammonia and 10 part water spray in and around the clumps. It will also kill aphids.
