Anyone here doing concrete counter tops?

posted by: dawnk82 on 01.16.2014 at 02:28 pm in Kitchens Forum

Was wondering if anyone here on GW had attempted concrete counter tops in their kitchens. I did see tinan's beautiful transformation of their kitchen. I am planning to do a cast in place 1 1/2" thick countertop. Would luv to see pics and details if anyone has them to share.

RE: looking for stainless sink with integrated drainboard (Follow-Up #2)

In my last kitchen I had an Elkay gourmet stainless double bowl drop in sink with a drainboard. I loved it. I don't understand why they are not more popular. As I have been collecting things for this kitchen reno I started looking for the same sink and was put off by the cost; over $1000! I ended up finding one on craigslist for $125! People putting in granite usually get rid of the drop-ins for undermounts. Anyway these are the companies I found who had stainless steel drop-ins with drainboard (double bowl, but I'm thinking they probably have singles as well): Elkay (Gourmet), Franke (Mythos), Kindred (KCWD6016R-9), Ikea (BOHOLMEN), Blanco (Precision).

What is too much space between kitchen Island and counters?

posted by: jdubs79 on 01.08.2014 at 09:31 am in Kitchens Forum

I have seen a lot of information about what would be considered too small of a space between kitchen island and countertops but I am curious as to what would be considered too much space. We have 39 inches on the short side of the island but a whopping 73 inches on the long side. Is 73 inches too much, or would this be comfortable?

I have attached the kitchen design if it helps.

Thanks!

Need low cost ceiling cover ideas

posted by: dawnk82 on 01.06.2014 at 04:09 pm in Kitchens Forum

We are installing a new kitchen and are wanting to do something to cover the popcorn ceiling. Thought about doing the decorative fake tin ceiling tiles, but it is a bit pricey.
Anyone have any low cost ideas
