why don't i ever see these tiles on walls? (MBA)

posted by: mtnrdredux on 10.08.2013 at 03:21 pm in Home Decorating & Design Forum

Okay, so for the vintagey look in our beachhouse MBA, I am thinking of something along these lines, probably done in white and aqua and a third color TBD.

I want the floor of the shower to have the pattern with "flowers". I want the wall to be plain field tile and a border near the top. I do not want Subway --- I have used it so many bathrooms, first in Montclair and then in Connecticut.

Why don't i ever see this used on a wall , though, it seems?

Which furniture arrangement do you prefer?

Hello :)

My husband and I are in the process of buying furniture for our new house, and I was wondering if I could get some perspectives on some furniture arrangements I've made? Thank you for any input. :)

Kijiji Chairs

posted by: cheryleb on 08.05.2013 at 07:49 pm in Home Decorating & Design Forum

I moved into a new home recently. It is an open layout with the great room open to the eating area which is separated from the kitchen by a breakfast bar. The GR is 13.5' x 18' and has 10' ceilings. I have a natuzzi leather sofa and loveseat in taupe with a maple based all around. I have a maple armoire between two west facing windows. I think the room has space for a pair of chairs and wanted to find something that could be recovered in a print with some color.

I saw these chairs on the local kijiji site for $75 each for the pair. Do they look like they would be good to recover? Are they too traditional? Nice lines?

I am also a bit worried that I have too many different woods in the room but that is another questions. :)

Is this the dreaded "Dusty Rose"??

posted by: cheryleb on 07.10.2013 at 07:53 am in Home Decorating & Design Forum

I posted a long winded message on my DR plan. A few friends have commented that the colors I selected make them think bad 80s dusty rose. I don't see it but suspect it may be there anyway.

I am adding a pic of the colors. The one I wanted to use is the Rose Stone which is the darkest of the middle colors. The fabric would be used on the DR chair seats. The backs are all wood. The room faces east so the colors are cooled a bit by the light.

I am also adding a link to the original thread. This has me really questioning my decision on color.
