Picture of my Angel feather ornament

posted by: pattico on 12.30.2007 at 05:41 pm in Garden Junk Forum

I have a memorial service to go to in the morning. For the mother of a guy I went to school with. He was married for a few years to one of my life long friends. She lives out of state now so I don't see her. I hope she will be there too. They are still good friends.

His mother fell last week , broke her hip. She was at the airport getting ready to fly out to her other son's home for Christmas.

They had to do surgery. She did wake up from surgery and passed on Christmas day.

So I made one of the angel feather ornaments for him.

As Promised: A Picture Of My Birdbath

posted by: kirkus on 04.09.2007 at 12:29 am in Garden Junk Forum

When I posted "A White Bench: What a Find", several of you asked to see a close-up of the birdbath in the foreground of the picture. Well, here it is! I had given this birdbath to my parents for their anniversary in 1979, my senior year of high school. I worked in a greenhouse, and when the greenhouse closed for business, the birdbath was marked down to $20, a great deal of money back then to a poor high school student saving for college. (A steal now!) When my parents passed away, I inherited the birdbath back. I had never seen another one like it until I met my future wife, AND HER PARENTS HAD THE SAME BIRDBATH! It is made with large, colorful stones embedded in concrete. It's SUPER HEAVY! Seeing the projects many of you have posted, I bet some of you could recreate this. ENJOY! Thanks for asking to see the birdbath up close.

pathway finally done

posted by: DAVISSUE_zone9 on 03.23.2005 at 12:56 am in Garden Accoutrements Forum

Last year I posted pictures of the leaves I'd made in anticipation of making a pathway. I promised then I'd post a picture of the finished path. Finally last month I got those leaves in the ground. Here's how it turned out. The leaves were made using the formula provided in the faq section- white portland cement, white sand, buff liquid coloring. I used several species of leaves to make the steppingstones.

First Garden Junk post- headboard bench :)

posted by: spy_ri on 05.02.2006 at 06:31 pm in Garden Junk Forum

Hi! I lurk here a *lot* and am so inspired by all the great projects you guys seem to make constantly! Well, I finally made something I'm happy enough about to post and introduce myself with! I loved the headboard benches I'd seen here, and found a headboard at a yardsale, it seemed like fate! There was no footboard, so I didn't get to do the sides, but just got some wood and made the seat, and the legs were those turned wood ones from HD. I love to make stuff, but you guys are so creative I've been intimidated! I'm usually in the Cottage Garden or New England forums, but I love to read here and hopefully will post more if I can make anything neat!

That's one of my cats, Jellyroll on the bench. He likes it!
