If you are saving seed, open the pod and gently remove the brown seeds, then before the fluff dries, insert it into the bulb. (tweezers and a small stick help to insert the still slightly damp fluff)
Generally within a day or two it has dried and filled the bulb.

Sunflower problems

posted by: Bobthegamer on 07.11.2013 at 06:08 pm in Garden Clinic Forum

This is my first time growing anything so i'm quite new to gardening. I'm growing mammoth sunflowers and so far I've ran into no issues except that some of the leaves have these black spots covering them. Eventually the leaves are completely overtaken and just fall off and die. I'm completely lost on what to do any help would be appreciated. I've included a picture of the leaves to help identify what the cause might be.

RE: What critter is making these holes?? (Follow-Up #4)

I plugged the hole and it came back today to dig a new one - it appears to be a ground bee - biggest bee I've ever seen and green head. These are not harmful but since its right at my front door and I have two kids under 4 I think I will say farewell to to do that...???

spider plant sick?

posted by: cghpnd on 04.01.2013 at 08:35 am in House Plants Forum

Hello all. I just found this page and I hope I am in the right place. I bought a spider plant from HD about 2 months ago. It has slowly been turning brown. I only water it when the soil is dry. About once every 7-12 days. I stick my finger in the soil to check. I've used distilled water, tap water, tried using a humidifier etc. I noticed a root at the top of the soil just hanging out when I went to water it. Is that normal? It was full when I brought it home but now I've had to cut the brown out and its thining out. It had babies when I brought it home.

Hey yall, I have 2 Haworthia Aloesand a small craft cactus that i bought from Home depot.

How should I care for them ? What I have been reading in other places are giving me mixed messages. I have read they love water, they hate water, etc.

How big do these guys get?
When/if i should repot them ?
