posted by: beautifulreddahlias on 11.05.2012 at 12:58 pm in Round Robin Exchange Forum

If your like me, you have a seed box that is literally busting at the seams!
This Round Robin trade is open to anyone who wants to join!
The rules:
1: This swap will be for 30 or more packs. The point is to lighten the load on your seed boxes!
2: Please make sure to label your packs with as much info as you can. ALSO make sure you put your GW name on each pack! With the large amounts of packs I will be working with it will help me to keep them all straight.
3: Please use bubble mailers! Make sure to send a return address label as well as 5-7 stamps. I will return whatever stamps I don't need to mail back the packages.
4:You can swap annuals or perennials, Please send in a list of what you sent as well as a wish list. I will try to fill out the wish list as best I can based on what is sent in. If you send in uncommon seed types I will try to send you back uncommon seeds.

I hope you all will enjoy this swap! I know my seed box will enjoy the offload!! I've already had to tape it up twice!

Make sure to post here on this thread as well as send me an email with your name and GW name so I can keep everything organized! I'll email the mailing info. to everyone who responds.

I will close the swap on Dec.1st so everyone should have their packages mailed to me by the 1st. If you have any questions please email me!
Nina

Here are the details:

Everone who wishes to be involved will send the seeds they want to include in the swap to me. When the deadline closes, I will then swap the seeds around, and mail your new seeds back to you.

Herbs Galore!

posted by: HoHumHollow on 01.06.2011 at 11:33 am in Round Robin Exchange Forum

Good Morning GW!

As a brand new member here, I thought I would jump in both feet first and arms flailing about ridiculously. First a little about myself, I am pretty new to having my very own garden. I grew up helping both my grandparents and my parents in their gardens, but last year was the first I planted my very own. It was a simple garden because I wanted to start off slow and didnt have much money to invest in seeds. This year, I am going all out, taking these dreary winter months to plan my garden down to the very tiniest detail. I am so very excited and thankful to all of you how have helped out by offering seeds through SASE or adoption (thanks again dem_pa)!

Now on to the exchange!

I would like to host an Herb exchange.

There will be a minimum of 5 packs of seeds for any type of herb, only 3 pack of the same herb are allowed.

All packs must be clearly labeled and packed in a bubble envelope. Please include enough seeds, and remember that what you give is what you get back.

Include with your seeds: enough postage for me to mail it back to you, a label with your address, a wish list and a sent list (so that I can try to send you something different than what you sent in), and please include your name, GW name, and e-mail address so that I can track everything.

Finally, the deadline to sign-up is the 22nd and you must mail your seeds by February 1st.

I am so excited and eager to host this exchange (please let me know if I am missing anything.)

Blessings,
Jay

NEW: Everyone welcome Seed Round Robin

posted by: thegardengeek on 01.09.2011 at 03:56 pm in Round Robin Exchange Forum

I want to find homes for seeds that I will not use so am starting a round robin that will cross 2 sites. There will be a large assortment of seeds involved.

Anyone interested in trading seeds sign up here and I will send you my address. Then, send me an envelope (bubble is best but the choice is yours). Inside this envie you must have 1. A return address label with your address on it. 2. Enough stamps to cover the postage back to you and 3. The packs of labeled seeds you want to get rid of. That is it, now seal up the envelope and mail it to me.

When it gets here I will count the packs you have sent, and grab the same number of packs (anyone who had done round robins with me before knows that I ALWAYS send extra) that you sent from the stock of seeds others have sent. I will refill the same envie you sent, put your address label on the front, add the stamps and send it back to you.

if anyone has any questions, please e-mail me thegardengeeks@gmail.com
I want this to be fun. No stiff rules just a fun chance to trade. I am hoping to get some new traders involved to help them get their feet wet.

NEW: Fourth Annual Winter Blues Seed Swap

posted by: barleychown on 11.13.2010 at 10:54 am in Round Robin Exchange Forum

Okay everyone! You have been saving seeds, right? Are you ready to swap?

Here are the details.

Everyone who wishes to be involved will send the seeds they want to include in the swap to me. When the deadline rolls around, I will then swap the seeds around, and mail your new seeds back to you.

All types of seeds are welcome; flowers, veggies, trees, shrubs, vines, ect.

Please include at leat 25 seeds in each pack, unless they are small seeds, then the general "rule" is 1/8 tsp. of seeds in each packet. If it's a rare or hard to come by seed, less than 25 is okay, but please be sure to note that on the packet.

Please label each packet with the name of the seeds, and as much info as you can about growing requirements like sun or shade, plant height, ect.

Also put your screen name on each packet, so if there are questions or problems with your seed, we can take care of them.

You may send in as many packets as you would like, but please no more than 10 packets of the same type of seeds. You will get back roughly the same number you sent in.

Mail your seeds to me in a padded (bubble) envelope. Include postage to return the envelope to you.

You may also include a brief (5-10 item) wish list of seeds...I will do my best to get you a few off the list.

The deadline for seeds to reach me will be January 31, 2011. My plan is to get them out right after that, so we all get a nice suprise in our mailboxes around valentine's day.

If you would like to be included, please sign up in this thread and I will PM you my address.

We had a lot of fun last year, and I'm really looking forward to this year's swap!

Last year there were over 50 participants, and an awesome variety of seeds.

Zone Wars!!!! Official Container Count for 2010/11 Part 2

posted by: manda3 on 01.15.2011 at 12:12 am in Winter Sowing Forum

Welcome to ZONE WARS!!!!

Rules
1) Please post here as many times as you like with your current TOTAL count.
2) This is about counting winter sown containers, total containers no matter the size, from December 21st 2010 to Spring 2011.
3) Chatting is STRICTLY encouraged. :P

FAQ
How To Count Containers
Each container, no matter the size, counts as one. However, if you feel your container is worth more or less than one, just use your judgment. Say, for example, you have one flat bin full of twenty cups with four different seeds. You can count it as 1, 4, or 20. Whatever you prefer. :)
What Zone To Use
I live on the border of 8a and 7b. I chose 8a because in recent memory, the lowest average temperature reaches 12 degrees Fahrenheit. The record is 0. I went with the average. Your zone is what you believe to be the average low temperature for your own back yard. :)

4= -30 to -20 degrees Fahrenheit
5= -20 to -10
6= -10 to 0
7= 0 to 10
8= 10 to 20
9= 20 to 30
