Strawberries

posted by: black-thumb on 01.23.2013 at 10:01 am in Edible Landscape Forum

Hello Everyone

I purchased a strawberry kit and planted the seeds according to the directions the last week in November but my plants are only an inch tall. Is this normal? I also planted tomatoes according to the package and they range from one to two inches tall.

It seems like the supermarket items I have been growing seeds from (bell peppers, whole ginger, cut scallions, garlic cloves and sweet potato slips) are growing much better and faster.

How long does it take tomato and strawberry plants to get a decent size? I'd be happy with twelve inches.

Thanks

Double sided or in wall fireplace?

posted by: black-thumb on 08.17.2010 at 04:19 am in Building a Home Forum

Hi all

Here is a quick paint shop job of a masterbedroom I designed. The first one has a double sided fire place that can be used for the bed area and sitting. The second photo has fireplace on the wall and the bed area is seperated from the sitting area by a sliding door.

If you were looking at a house to purchase which style would you prefer in the bedroom.

Thanks

Aebleskiver Pan ...which one?

Hi I'm in the market to purchase one of these but there are so many brands available I'm not sure which brand and type is best. I will be using it on a gas stove if that matters. Should I get one with a flat bottom or the one with the bump outs on the bottom? Do they make nonstick ones? ( not really that big of a deal but if they do I would prefer it)

Thanks

Inspirational pics needed for bedroom

posted by: black-thumb on 07.14.2009 at 03:37 pm in Home Decorating Forum

Hi all

I have been doing a search for pics to help me redo my bedroom yet again. (side note again just looks like its spelled wrong don't you hate it when your brain does that)Anyway I've done this look before and was pleased with the outcome but, will be trying it again this time making my own comforters as the only place I have seen the type I'm looking for is Ralph Lauren and can you say expensive!

So here is what I'm going for and was hoping anyone who comes across a room like this could steer a photo or two my way. :) I've got the overall theme going but photos often show little touches you wouldn't normally think of doing in the room.

Thanks

OK so I need 10 million dollars

I was just poking around the internet and decided to visit realtor .com to see if I could find some good interior home decor pics from some of the super expensive homes. I came across a house that I totally fell for, its right up my alley. I'm not crazy about some of the furniture or the fireplaces but the rest of the style so totally me! Now all I need is ten mill to make the purchase.

Anyone got any ideas? LOL

How did they do that ?!!!

Ok ladies you all are so creative, I am hoping that you will help me figure out just how this was done. I love the idea and would like to use it someday down the line but I just can't figure out how they get the table to stay put and not tip over when someone on one side of the table leans on it with their elbow or something.

I was thinking the center was a solid round piece which is what I would do and then just cover that whole area with the center piece but it seems like thats all roses too.

Anyone got any bright innovative ideas on how to accomplish this? Do you think it would work on a rectangular table that seats about 18 to 20 people? It would probably take two center pieces to hold it up huh?

Thanks bunches!!!

Gorgeous!!! (Follow-Up #2)

posted by: squirrelheaven on 11.28.2006 at 10:45 pm in Home Decorating Forum

Hi Kabergs, looks very pretty. I just tweaked it a bit (click to enlarge) ... grouping some of the taller ones toward the mirror which is the focal of the display. Also added a wide red candle for variety and color balance :) Stuck a few of those wispy green pine branches in there to soften the edges and drape a bit (maybe add some bay leaves and berries for variety also). Turned the lights down low, (just had to play with that ;), sofa's ready for company. I think it is just gorgeous!!! Great job!!!
