The link below will take you to an excellent tutorial on making leaf castings.
I make a lot of them and it's a blast! I use elephant ears, Chinese paper plant and begonia leaves for the big ones. I've used redbud, oakleaf hydrangea, hosta and ligularia leaves for smaller ones.
During the colder months you can make leaf castings using large leaved greens from the grocers. I've used mustard and collard greens, kale, savoy and leaf cabbage and bok choy. Any large leaves with prominent veins will work.
Making leaf castings is a great group activity too. Just make sure you have enough space.

bed bench

I picked up a set of bunk bed headboard/footboards at a thrift shop - $5.00 for all four pieces. We finally got around to building one of them over the weekend. Now I need to paint it. I was happy with the way it turned out - I enlisted hubby's help. We just used scrap wood we had laying around. Not sure what color it will end up - possibly a medium sage green?

Greenhouse made from old windows...

Hi All! My Hubby and I were driving around the countryside yesterday and decided to turn around in this driveway. I wasn't paying much attention, until my husband said, "Uh Oh..." I looked up at that point, of course and this is what I saw! "Now I suppose you want me to make you one", Hubby said reluctantly... Luckily I had my camera with me. The man of the house stepped out when he saw me trying to take a picture from the road and invited us to pull back in to get a better shot. He also told us where they bought it and that it was only $25! Some Guy in a town not too far from us makes them as a hobby. Hmmmm... My Birthday's in August... Kathy
