The next exchange - details, Spring 08

posted by: nicethyme on 01.08.2008 at 06:10 pm in Stained Glass & Mosaics Forum

OKay all... pay attention now. The next exchange/challenge is TO BE MAILED on MARCH 15th + or - a few days on either side is fine but if you can't be in the mail on the 17th at the latest then don't exchange an address. By the time we collect addresses your project should be close enough to finish that you will know if you can make it or drop out! GOT IT? OK!

To be in this challenge, you must take part in an update discussion thread POSTED BY ME ONLY.You will have a period of 5 days to make some type of post to that thread and if you are a no show at the end of that period we will list you as MIA and you will be disqualified from participation in this challenge. These threads will start on the week of Jan 28nd, Feb 11th and finally with the request for your emailed address on March 4th. Let Me repeat, you must respond to the official exchange threads started only by ME within 5 days of these dates or you will not be included in the exchange. Also, all email correspondense must be responded to or you will be called MIA. Official threads and emails by ME will be titled SATG

now read that all again twice before proceeding! LOL

For newbies - our challenges/exchanges are a secret, you will not recieve an exchange partner until it is time to send your art, therefore you do not know what they like. You DO NOT post WIPs. You will however have a list of requirements for this project, so if you don't want this item from someone, don't join. If you don't want to take on this challenge as it's described then... don't. easy breezy. There are at any given time, a number of different skill levels participating, remember that everyone here was once a newbie too, and exchanges are a great way to get experience. Please do not fear you don't measure up, you will! and we KNOW IT!!! lol

Ready?

Title is "Spring around the Globe, how small can you go?"

so it's spring themed - your own interpretation of spring! Depicted on.... a (you guessed it) GLOBE or better known as a polystyrene BALL! 6 inches or LESS... the less the better... less work. less tesserae. less shipping weight! LOL and those of you who possess micro mosaic urges can really go to town!!! LOL

So to recap,

Spring theme
Ball
6 inches or less
mailed on March 15th
you must post to "official" threads to stay in, within 5 days on Jan 28th, Feb 10th and March 4th.

You must respond to all emails from info@candaceclough.com
to give notice of receipt. Although, don't expect one till the end (except for those of you I regularly harrass now!)

If you suspect you may want to participate, post your intent here. You are not obligated in anyway and have up to March 10th to drop out, no questions asked. OK?

with that... I'm in!

RE: Mosaic Magazine! (Follow-Up #1)

Looks interesting - I see an orb (bowling ball, whatever) in the gallery page!

I got this in my email today and thought of most of the folks here:

"All mosaic artists are invited to submit photos for consideration for use in Brit Hammer-Dijcks' forthcoming book titled Mosaic: finding your own voice.
This is a book for advanced mosaicists as well as beginners who are serious about pursuing mosaic. The book will serve to inspire readers to experiment so that they, too, may find their own style. It will be a book of substance, delving into the principles of design while also covering some of the technical aspects of creating mosaics."

Oh nice I feel for ya...we are not a huggy bunch on my side of the family. Now I have no problem hugging my son or my hubby but outside of that I kinda seem to have a wall around me...

Hope you find the saying you want. I gotta tell you. I always buy the funny cards cause I CANNOT stand to buy a sappy card that DOESNT say what I feel...if I felt it I would buy it but if its a lie I cant do it...man it makes it hard sometimes doesnt it!!!! Oh but I can cry over a freakin commercial!!!!!

I made this gift for you
from my heart and my hands
its my way to say the things
that only my heart understands
Often I dont share what I hold so close and dear
so I hope this helps you see my love
over distances and through the years

Donna

poem w/exchange gift from crackpotannie to slow

posted by: slowmedown on 12.26.2007 at 03:48 pm in Stained Glass & Mosaics Forum

As you've seen from the cross on the discussion side, there is a message of "Mosaic Soul" in alphabet beads. Following is a beautiful poem written by Annie. It follows:

"A Mosaic Soul Have You and I
Made up from Many Pieces
Like a Brightly Colored Sky
We see Things in Different Eyes
A Mosaic Soul Have You and I
What's Broken to Others
Is a Treasure to Us
A Mosaic Soul Have You and I
Piece By Piece made from The Heart
A Mosaic Soul We Call Art (the period is the heart icon)"

Then the card had a wonderful personal note, followed by "...may your New Year be blessed!"

On the front of the Hallmark card is a quote by Maya Angelou, poet, author, entertainer, mother, sister, friend and role model. Her poem follows:

"Not everything you do
is going to be
a masterpiece,

but you get out there
and you try
and sometimes
it really happens.

The other times
you're just
stretching
your soul."

I am soooo sorry I overlooked the card in my excitement to open the gift, trying to do my duties as a hostess on the holiday. Thanks again, lady, for a wonderful heartfelt gift.

RE: Photo Instructions (Follow-Up #37)

Also, if you want your photos to the left, if you just take out the center command, it will default to the left.

And, I FINALLY figured out how to put the pictures NEXT to each other, instead of under each other. You should probably only do 4 or 5 across (thumbnails), or it will be too wide.

Here's the instructions. I hope these are understandable!

Photo Instructions

posted by: lyndalu on 09.29.2007 at 08:43 pm in Stained Glass & Mosaics Forum

This is in response to a question on how to post multiple pictures. I've shared these instructions with a few people via emails, and just figured out how to share it here.

I thought I'd put this in a separate post, so we could refer new people to it.

These instructions are for Photobucket. If someone has instructions for some of the other photo sharing sites, maybe they could add to this thread?
