Tomato Stems Breaking

posted by: TomAndJerryGardener on 03.19.2013 at 01:19 am in Growing Tomatoes Forum

Recently I planted 25 Big Daddy Tomato Hybrids this is my first year planting tomatoes. Now a week later they have mostly all sprouted. But now as they are growing some of them are dying. Their stems get all twisted and it looks like there is a kink preventing further nutrition from reaching the plant. Some of the stem is so thin that it can't support the weight and that's why the plant droops, and today one of the snapped in half. Just yesterday I gave them Finley crushed tums mixed with water, and also for the past two days it has been cloudy. Is there any way to save the plant once it snaps? no true leaves have shown there is only the cotyledons. I also tend to water irregularly and water to much. Please help!!!

What's Wrong with my Tomato Plants Leaves?

posted by: TomAndJerryGardener on 03.21.2013 at 12:29 am in Growing Tomatoes Forum

Recently I planted Big Daddy Tomato Hybrid, I fed them tums water, and provided eggshells, but unfortunately I overwatered, so a few (4 or 5) caught the fungi known as drooping off. Luckily with the help of you guys I quickly threw out the "infected" ones, but suddenly the non-infected plants leaves looked different and curly ( picture provided ). I live in Zone 5 or 6 and they are currently indoors with fluorescent lights and sunlight. Nowadays I don't over water and feed them any supplements. They only have their cotyledons none have their "true leaves" yet. Could the leaves be a bad sighn or is just a healthy plant.

Different Leaves

posted by: TomAndJerryGardener on 03.24.2013 at 12:21 am in Growing Tomatoes Forum

I recently plant Big Daddy Tomato Hybrid plants most of them germinated, but some that germinated have noticeably smaller leaves then the other plants. They were all planted at the same time with the same soil, water, ect.
So why are these leaves smaller than the other plants. Are they the wrong seeds?
