Suggestions for hummingbird feeder

posted by: Poodle_Mom on 04.04.2013 at 06:45 pm in Hummingbird Garden Forum

Anybody have suggestions for hummingbird feeders that don't attract wasps? The hummers love to vist my purple petunias I put out every year and I used to have a couple of feeders for them but the feeders attracted the wasps horribly!

WANTED: Wanted Morning Glory Seeds - wiped out after fire

posted by: KayG on 04.01.2013 at 09:49 pm in Seed Exchange Forum

We unfortunately had a fire last year that burned our garage and backyard and our elaborate well established flower gardens down to a pile of rubble. We were pleased to see our rose of sharon came back as well as a few flower bulbs. However that's all we've got left.

Currently our fence is now bare chain link and provides no privacy. I don't really have anything left to trade this year other than rose of Sharon seeds in late summer. Totally willing to send Self Addressed Stamped Envelope for donations of Morning Glory Seeds or for a delayed trade of Morning Glory Seeds now for Rose of Sharon seeds when it has seeds o plenty to trade back in early fall.

Help with my Aloe plant

posted by: Poodle_Mom on 04.04.2013 at 01:26 pm in Cacti & Succulents Forum

I have had this aloe plant for about a year. So far it has stayed in the pot it came in. It is a house plant residing in my bathroom. It sits on the ledge of a garden tub that has a sunlight. I want to repot it but not sure what the best way to go about it is.

1. What kind of pot is best....plastic, terra cotta?
2. How big of a pot shoul I use?
3. Anything else I should know?

Also, what type of aloe is this? Thanks for all your help!

Rabbits eating my petunia leaves!

posted by: Poodle_Mom on 04.04.2013 at 09:45 am in Annuals Forum

I plant petunias every year in hanging baskets into portch. This year I also planted some in my flower beds for some color now while I wait for my bulbs and seeds I planted to start blooming. I went out this morning and several of them have leaves chewed off. I'm assuming it is rabbits. While it is posible for deer to roam the neighborhood I have only seen them a handful of times and I see rabbits almost nightly when I take my dog out. Any suggestions to keep this from happening? In the next couple of weeks I plan to plant some petunias I started from seed that my grandfather saved from his favorite petunia last year and I would hate for the rabbits to get ahold of those leaves.
