All Black or Black Accent Wall? Experiment Done

posted by: ttodd on 03.31.2011 at 02:17 pm in Home Decorating Forum

so here are some quick pics of my experiment. Let me know what you think. Is it a go and if so just the accent wall or the whole room?

I tried to cover our sofa as best as possible to get a feel for how the space would look w/ the white sofa when we get it. It is a sectional and will be in the far corner there and will end in the middle of the window.

Looking in from office across the hall:

In the LR (my next cat should be black, huh?):

I'd hate to have to buy new lamps if I painted the room all black but if so I've had my eye on a fantastic wooden surveyors floor lamp.

If the room would be best all black I would flip flop the dark leather club chairs in the LR w/ my proposed slip covered white wingback chair.

I would also do the final black paint job in a dead matte flat black.

Oh, BTW - in case anyone was wondering: The Sealskin paint turns absolutely deep brown at night - not black like during the day. Weird - but cool!

RE: Open Shelving... Love/Hate Relationship (Follow-Up #4)

I love all the ideas you want to incorporate into your kitchen. I think you'll find some good tips for the how-to at the link below. We just recently decided to do some open shelves too, after seeing pictures of Pirula's kitchen in the Finished Kitchen Blog. Last week I realized that all that was standing between me and a trial run of open shelving was 8 little screws. Within ten minutes they were removed, the doors were set aside, and I had my open shelves. We really like the doors being gone for our dish cupboard!
